Top 5 most sought-after graduates by employers worldwide
University of Sydney graduates have been named the most employable in Australia and fourth globally in the 2020 QS Graduate Employability Rankings.

For five years running, the University of Sydney has been named as Australia’s leading university for graduate employability.

The University also moved up one place globally to rank fourth in the world behind MIT, Stanford University and University of California Los Angeles in the 2020 rankings released today.

“I am delighted to see that the University of Sydney has once again been ranked among the top 5 institutions in the world for graduate employability,” said Vice-Chancellor and Principal Dr Michael Spence.

“Our transformed undergraduate curriculum has been designed so that our students graduate ready for the workplace.

“We are committed to ensure that every University of Sydney student has the opportunity to take on real-world industry, community, research and entrepreneurship projects as part of their degrees.”

The QS Graduate Employability ranking demonstrates how well universities prepare students for entry to the workforce. It is based on five elements: employer reputation, alumni outcomes, partnerships with employers per faculty, employer/student connections and the graduate employment rate.

The University of Sydney offers real-world projects for students with more than 45 leading organisations in both Australia and internationally across industry, community and government sectors.

Undergraduate students are given the opportunity to work on projects with industry partners such as Accenture, Adobe, Ernst and Young, Herbert Smith Freehills, MS Research, Westpac and many more.

We are also one of only 26 universities globally, including the only in Australia, to participate in the Airbus Global University Partner Program, which gives students the opportunity to travel abroad to work onsite with engineers on projects at Airbus’ facilities in the United Kingdom.

This year, the QS employability rankings considered more than 700 universities, and surveyed almost 45,000 employers around the world, asking them to identify those institutions from which they source the most competent, innovative, effective graduates.

The University is currently ranked 42 in the world and first in the state in the overall QS World University Rankings and had 30 subjects ranked in the top 50 globally in the QS Subject Rankings.
